- Wednesday, February 15: Ski day at Copper Mountain
Description: We will meet at 10:30 AM and at 12:30 PM in front of the Copper Mountain Center Village ticket office below Jack’s Slopeside Bar and Grill, between the American Eagle and American Flyer lifts. At the 10:30 meeting we will organize into groups for skiing and at the 12:30 meeting we will organize into groups for lunch. CTA will pay for part of lunch, attendees are responsible for their own lift ticket and skis. No RSVP is required. - Wednesday, February 29: Professional development session on intercultural communication
Description: CTA member Mylè Vialard will lead a presentation and interactive discussion on intercultural communication. Suitable for translators of all languages who want to improve their communications skills in a multicultural and multilingual work environment.
Location: Meadows Branch of the Boulder Public Library, 4800 Baseline Road in Boulder (behind Safeway in the Meadows Shopping Center, at the corner of Foothills Parkway and Baseline Road). Please see the library’s website for directions as the library is not visible from the street.
Time: Room opens at 6, presentation at 6:30
Cost: Free and open to members and non-members. No RSVP is necessary. - Tuesday, March 6: An introduction to working as a freelance translator
Description: CTA members Steve Lank, Director of Operations at Syntes Language Group, and Thais Lips, an experienced freelance translator, will give a presentation on how to get started as a freelance translator and find your first clients. They will discuss the basics of setting up a freelance business, building a professional network and marketing your services to translation companies. Targeted at new CTA members, but all members are welcome.
Location: Syntes Language Group’s conference room, in the Denver Tech Center. Exact directions will be sent to registered attendees.
