Our Annual Dinner at Palettes in the Denver Art Museum was great. We had a party of 35 people, in spite of the snow outside the Denver area and the flu that was responsible for five cancellations, including our Media Coordinator Marion Rhodes who lives in Colorado Springs, and whom I’m trying to fit in her shoes and post this quick review. We want to thank Dutchworks Trio created especially for our event. Please click here for a sample of their lovely recital.
The trio was composed of dedicated CTA members, who are also professional musicians. They volunteered to brighten our evening and treated us with a 20-minute recital after the hors d’oeuvres were served and another 20 minutes before dessert. They played baroque selections by Quantz and Boismortier, and a bit of Christmas carol-inspired trio music. Ria van der Heijde-Zomerdijk on recorder, Miriam Linschoten on violin, and Cynthia Jaffe on flute. The food was scrumptious and service was impeccable, the kind of service that does not bother you but that is always there when you need it.
Clockwise from left Corinne McKay who commented: Last night was really lovely; a warm atmosphere for a cold, wet night, great food, a nice mix of familiar faces and new ones, and the multi-talented women of DutchWorks to entertain us! As a vegetarian I particularly appreciated that the vegetarian dish was *the fanciest one*, rather than the “here’s some pasta with frozen vegetables for the non-meat-eaters” approach. Thanks to the Board for planning and executing the dinner so well!, Eve Lindemuth-Bodeux whom expressed a thank you to the Board in name of the attendants for organizing the event, Joni Jackson-Malavasi, Kathy DiCenzo, Elizabeth Blount with husband Sam, Vice-President Jim McMillan and Luisa McMillan.
No need to say that participants were friendly as ever and the oldies were welcoming to the new faces. Clockwise from left: Jane Maier’s guest Harold, Jane Maier, Hélène des Rosiers, Eliza Graham, Rosabelle White Aguirre de Rice and husband Jim Rice, Ines Mienheartt, and Irina Kamensky who won the door prize: a free registration to the CTA 2015 Conference to be held traditionally at the NCAR Mesa Lab in Boulder, next May 2 & 3.
Also clockwise from left, Crissy Rosa with her guest Ana, Nina Abbud, Riccardo Schiaffino, Treasurer Mery Molenaar and webmaster who will be updating the website photo gallery soon with photos of the party, Lisa Golden Tio, Isabelle Al-Jassim and Silke Hufnagel.
Erin Shay, Brent Sinn, Secretary and event planner Rachel Sinn who stated: I am quite happy at how everything turned out, and the Trio was fantastic! Paul van der Heijde, Miriam Linschoten, Cynthia Jaffe (behind Ria), and Ria van der Heijde-Zomerdijk.
And finally, a photo taken by Mery with Ria van der Heijde-Zomerdijk, me, and Erin Shay who said: I want to thank Thaïs, Jim, Rachel, Mery, Marion, the Dutchworks Trio, and all others who helped plan and execute last night’s gathering; it was a blast! The atmosphere was warm, the food was good, the music was delightful, and it was a treat to see the usual crowd and meet some new folks as well. It was a great way to start the new year. Thank you all for your efforts!
Vice President Jim McMillan chimed in: A wonderful evening was had by all, and our multi-talented trio of musicians set a high bar for quality entertainment and generosity of heart. Thank you to all who supported our Annual Holiday Dinner this year!
